We know that a great selection of music could lighten up your day, night, and everything in between. Based on that, we decided to start a monthly series of music playlists, curated by special guests and contributors around; from musicians, artists, DJs, to our beloved friends.
For our 2nd edition of ‘Public Culture Plays’, we invited Denisa Dhaniswara, or being known as denisa for most of us; one of the young and promising singers/songwriters in the Indonesian music scene nowadays.
Asides from what people think about February, the month of love and celebration (Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year, anyone?), the Jakarta-based musician has her own take about it. In this playlist, she tries to deliver more somber notes. As she stated, this playlist was organized according to stages of heartbreak; from grief to denial, to anger, and lastly acceptance. Hence, this one and half hour playlist have an eclectic mix of music that makes up the perfect backdrop to the gritty, cloudy and rainy streets of Jakarta.
“Hope February wasn’t that brutal for anyone, enjoy my piece of love and loss,” she told us.
Stream it below and if you’re getting mellow and into it, go hit the like button and try not to cry.
